PHOENIX - SRP has proposed a price increase averaging 8.8 percent, which is an extra $12 a month for the average customer.
SRP says the price increase would "help SRP continue to maintain and upgrade existing power plants and transmission lines, manage diverse fuel sources and meet strict environmental requirements."
Scott Harelson of SRP says some of the money will go to developing environmentally-friendly technology. "The contracts that we signed to purchase the power over time are more expensive."
If approved, the pricing increase would take effect in the November 2009 billing cycle.
