Moms with Sick Kids Get Day of Pampering

PHOENIX - Moms who spent their Mother's Day at Phoenix Children's Hospital taking care of their kids got to celebrate Monday.

Eileen Zuniga spent Sunday in the hospital by her son's side after he had several seizures, and Kathy Williams has been in the hospital with her daughter for 3 weeks for a torn pancreas.

But Monday is their day.

"I haven't been pampered in a long time and it just helps keeps my mind refreshed and helps me get energy again," says Williams.

"I was in 2 hospitals yesterday so this is something much needed," says Zuniga.

Sincerely Yours Salon on 7th Street and Bell Road moved their shop to Phoenix Children's Hospital for the day, treating moms to hair, makeup, hand and back massages.

"I am inspired by the gift of doing hair, I've been doing it for 26 years, we have a gift," says Patricia Mitchell. "When they leave here they're completely different, lots of unspoken words, lots of hugs, lots of tears."

Once they were done with a day of beauty, the women left with a goodie bag and a fresh start for the day.

This is the 4th year Sincerely Yours Salon has held the event for moms the day after Mother's Day.
