Two months after a 6-1 road defeat to the Islanders, Phoenix also got goals from Keith Yandle and Mike Ribeiro to snap a three-game home losing streak. Mike Smith made 21 saves for Phoenix after missing Tuesday's win in Colorado due to illness.
LAS VEGAS (AP) - Bareback rider Kaycee Feild won for the second consecutive round last night in the National Finals Rodeo, scoring 83.5 points on Cool Water. Feild, from Payson, Utah, remained atop the season standings. Seeking a third consecutive season title, Feild also leads the aggregate standings with 663 points for eight rides.
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Arizona Cardinals rookie Tyrann Mathieu says he will have surgery today to repair torn ligaments in his left knee. Mathieu said at team headquarters yesterday he knows it will be frustrating to watch the team play for the remainder of the season. It is the first serious injury of Mathieu's career, and he says he will do his rehab work in Arizona.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Titans will play their first home game in a month Sunday against Arizona. The Titans have lost four straight since their last home win Sept. 29 in Nashville. Safety Bernard Pollard encourages fans to use the tickets and have fun, even if this isn't the season the Titans wanted. They are currently 5 and 8.
PHOENIX (AP) - The half-brother of golfer Tiger Woods has been arrested in Phoenix for allegedly making a false bomb threat at the government building where he works. Phoenix police say 58-year-old Earl Dennison Woods Jr. is accused of calling in the threat at the Department of Economic Security around 8:30 a.m. yesterday. More than 100 people were evacuated before Woods came forward and told police the call was meant as a joke.
